On Leaving

I am officially on the road to the west coast. Tonight is our first stop: Charlottesville, VA.

I suppose I've gotten used to country life. To spending much of the day with few people, with people I love deeply, people I can be quiet with. I am already overwhelmed by all the new people and places I will encounter in the coming weeks and months. But I know this challenge is a good one. There will be adventure. There will be music. I was excited to learn today that I'll likely be playing two shows in Colorado, one in Missoula, and one in Portland in the next several weeks.

For now though, I am tired, and missing what I've left.

i met a sweet dog-bear-pig tonight named "Quincy." She's a yellow lab, just adorable. My heart aches for the puppies I've left behind: Lorenzo, Jack, Isabella, and Winston. This one is for you.
